Programs
Longhorn Pre-College Academy (LPCA)
LPCA is offered at several Dallas Independent School District (DISD) high school campuses in partnership with Education is Freedom (EIF). Participating students have access to academic enrichment services, college prep workshops, mentoring, and advisory services by UT Outreach staff. Students also have the opportunity to participate in on-campus college preview days and other cultural enrichment activities.
Bevo Boot Camp
Bevo Boot Camp consists of longer, more in-depth sessions offered that focus on special topics. Students from Longhorn Opportunity Scholarship (LOS) schools can participate in these workshops, but must register through UT Outreach. Examples of topics include writing the college essay, seeking scholarships, and college shopping. Professionals with extensive experience will lead many of these sessions.
Longhorn Mentors
As a part of the LPCA, UT Outreach – Dallas recruits alumni to serve as positive role models who can help students improve their attitude toward education and develop enthusiasm for learning. Longhorn Mentors participate in group luncheons with students on the LPCA campuses. Each luncheon focuses on a specific college readiness theme.
